Hello - I would like to get some property distribution calculation methodologies utilized for 401K / IRA (the new "pensions"). I have heard that many, if not most cases are settled out of court, so what would be most valuable information are methodologies used with at least "some success" by various highly experienced lawyers during numerous settlement processes, not just antiquated court cases, I think.

In addition, I cannot find well documented details of the "benefits" a separated couple (family) may achieve by undertaking a "Legal Separation" vs. dissolution, especially when the parties are "older" in age and health insurance costs (for example, if one person is not working currently and the other enjoys health benefits from an employer), pension dilution (for example when one spouse has accrued years of service prior and subsequent to the marriage) and the loss of the 50% survivor pension annuity for the spouse (prior to retirement) due to dissolution, and possible dilution of social security benefits, etc. concerns.

Any help from experts in the legal profession would be appreciated.
Thank-you
Tom
