Patrick Markey of The Law Offices of Patrick Markey, P.C.Patrick helps clients minimize the destruction of divorce whether it be through the collaborative law model or traditional litigation. He focuses on complex family law cases and represents sophisticated professionals and their spouses who are looking for a fair and equitable divorce.

In 2015, Patrick was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine which is granted to only 2.5% of lawyers. Super Lawyers has a patented multiphase selection process that includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Patrick is active in the Chicago Bar Association (CBA). In 2012, he won the Milton H. Grey award for Outstanding Project Leadership. He currently serves on the CBA Judicial Evaluation Committee which provides ratings of Cook County Judges for the public to use when voting in elections. He served on Young Lawyers Section (YLS) Executive Board from 2008-2012. He was also the Co-Chair of the YLS Family Law Committee in 2007 and 2008.

In 2011, Patrick organized the CBAs first “Domestic Violence Awareness Week” which included legal seminars on Domestic Violence and Orders of Protection, legal training for lawyers to represent individuals seeking legal immigration status through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Mother’s Day party at a domestic violence shelter. It is now an annual event that has grown in size.

Patrick takes on several pro bono family law cases each year. He volunteers with the National Immigrant Justice Center seeking legal immigration status for an undocumented women abused by her US Citizen spouses. He has also been involved in the CBA’s E-mentoring program with Richards High School in Chicago, Call a Lawyer, Lawyers in the Classroom (CRFC), Wills for Heroes, Law in the library among other programs.

In 2009, Patrick was admitted as a fellow of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and he is currently a member of the excellence and best practices committee.
